For everybody whose hairs are dark. Patients who have blond, grey or white hairs don’t respond so well to the treatment. The reason is that this type of hairs have a lack of pigment. Sometimes, in about 20% of people there is no response even if they are supposed to respond well to it.
Nowadays thanks to the advanced technologies, the laser hair removal technique is adapted to any type of ethnic skins, dark, tanned, or Asian.
During your first appointment, after a careful medical examination, precise explanations of the chosen process and an examination of the areas to treat, the doctor will perform a laser hair removal test on you to analyze your tolerance and the efficiency on the treated area.
Every part (except eyelashes) of the face and the body can be treated by laser procedures.
The number of sessions is between 6 and 8 according to the areas. You need to know that only 30% of hairs are growing while the hair removal is performed. The sessions are every six weeks.
It basically depends on the individual and their ability to bear pain. Skin colour may play a part in the sensitization of pain. Dark skin may be more sensitive than light skin. Local anesthetic cream can be used.
The cost depends on the treated area and the number of required sessions. During your consultation, your doctor will give you an estimate. You need to realize that the hair removal should be permanent so it’s a once-only payment.
You have to shave the area to be treated the day before (or just before) the session so that the treatment only focuses on the hair-root and not the hair-shaft for maximal effect.
It’s basically a consultation, the doctor will assess the number of sessions necessary, fees and choose the best laser for your type of skin and hairs. You will be handed over an informed consent form and an estimate.
Tattooed areas will be covered to avoid any loss of the tattoo if the laser beam is in contact with pigments.
During the treatment some medicine and certain plants should be avoided. You should discuss it with your doctor.
With older lasers, sun tanning is not advised for 4 weeks before the first session. New lasers will work on a slight or older suntan, but it’s still best to avoid sun tanning for 4 weeks before treatment.
